Brothers & Sisters, A lot has been happening at Local 40 over the last few months. We have been hard at work alongside our partner unions in the Entertainment Union Coalition to make sure lawmakers hear directly from organized labor about the importance of protecting California’s film and television industry through SB 122. Keeping production…
Brothers & Sisters, A really great idea is only a fraction of the work. Turning that idea into something members can actually use is when the real work begins. When we got the studios to agree to a path for adding the 401(k), that was just the beginning. Figuring out the legal hurdles, plan rules,…
Brothers & Sisters, The motion picture industry has endured over a century of uncertainty, consolidation, strikes, technological change, and shifting business models. Brothers & Sisters, First and foremost, I want to wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you can enjoy some time away from work to spend with your families. Last week, the Local partnered with Labor Community Services and other industry unions to give turkeys to members in need. This event…
Brothers & Sisters, In the next few weeks California will be holding a special election for Prop 50. IBEW and labor unions across the state are calling on members to Vote Yes on 50. Rather than giving a list of reasons to Vote Yes on 50, it seemed more appropriate to talk about how we…
