April 2025 – National Apprenticeship Day, RENEW BBQ & More!
Brothers and Sisters,
As we approach National Apprenticeship Day on April 30, we take this time to recognize and celebrate the power of apprenticeships in shaping the future of our industry. Apprenticeships are the backbone of skilled labor, offering hands-on training, mentorship, and a direct pathway to lifelong careers. For many of our members, the apprenticeship program has paved the way for our careers in the motion picture and television industry.
We are excited to announce that we will be accepting apprenticeship applications from April 7–11 at Contract Services. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain the skills and experience necessary to become a journeyman wireman. As you all already know, apprentices will not only get the chance to earn while they learn, all while getting employer-paid healthcare and retirement.
Why is this so important? Because apprenticeship programs change lives. They provide an entry point into a respected and well-paying career without the burden of student debt. They ensure that new generations of skilled workers are ready to take on the challenges of the industry, keeping our union strong and our work in high demand. As members of Local 40, we have a duty to pass on our knowledge and skills to the next generation.
If you know someone who has the drive and commitment, make sure they apply. Explain to them the impact joining the union has made on your life. The strength of our union depends on bringing in new talent and ensuring that the next generation is well-equipped to carry on our proud traditions.
Additionally, with National Apprenticeship Day on April 30, the Local will be hosting an open house at our Training Center from 4-7pm for anyone who has decided to apply or is just plain interested in our apprenticeship program.
RENEW BBQ
We also want to invite all members to join us for a Local 40 RENEW Program BBQ at 3:30pm before our next General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, April 23.
For those of you who are not familiar with the RENEW Program, their goal is to engage the next generation of IBEW members by educating them on the union, the labor movement, and workplace issues while fostering leadership and greater union involvement. We want to thank these newer members for stepping up and getting involved in their Union.
Thank you all for your dedication to our craft and our union. Let’s continue to support and uplift one another as we build a stronger Local together!
In Solidarity,
Stephan Davis
