Thankful for Union Members Like You
Brothers & Sisters,
First and foremost, I want to wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you can enjoy some time away from work to spend with your families.
Last week, the Local partnered with Labor Community Services and other industry unions to give turkeys to members in need. This event saw over 500 families receive a Thanksgiving turkey.

With Christmas right around the corner, we are hosting a toy drive and will be donating to the Lean In and Lean On Holiday Party. Local 40, the Basic Crafts, and the Hollywood studio IATSE Locals are partnering with Labor Community Services to provide families with a holiday party and gifts. This event is on Saturday, December 13, from 1pm to 5 pm at IATSE Local 80 (2520 W. Olive Ave, Burbank, CA). There will be face painting, a bounce house, holiday crafts, and photos with Santa. We will also be giving food and toys for the holidays to those members in need.

This is all made possible by members like you getting involved and giving back. I encourage every member, especially our younger members, to consider getting more involved in our Local. Your voice matters, and your participation matters. Our union’s strength tomorrow depends on the engagement of our members today.
With Thanksgiving upon us, this message feels even more meaningful. This time of year gives us space to pause, reflect, and recognize what we’re truly grateful for. As union members we have so much that most workers do not. Whether it is a strong contract that protects our wages, benefits, and working conditions, or our union culture rooted in solidarity, mentorship, and lifting each other up, we have so much to be thankful for. All of this was made possible by the generations of members who stood together, and today’s family of Brothers and Sisters of Local 40 who support one another on and off the job.
In just a few weeks we will be hosting our annual That’s a Wrap! holiday luncheon, and I hope to see you there. This event is a great time to connect with members, discuss the year ahead, and spread some holiday cheer. If you can attend, we encourage you to bring a new, unopened toy. If you can’t make it, please help us reach our goal and drop off a donation at the hall.
Wishing you and your families a safe, warm, and meaningful Thanksgiving.

In Solidarity,
Stephan Davis
