Working Overtime to Ensure Our Next Governor is a Partner
The next gubernatorial election may be one of the most pivotal in our industry’s history. California’s entertainment industry sits at an unprecedented crossroads, and we need a governor who will proactively fight to protect and expand jobs across California.
Our partners at the Entertainment Union Coalition (EUC) have just interviewed the top gubernatorial candidates to make certain each fully understands the real, immediate challenges we face and the need for greater investment in film and television production to strengthen our state’s economy.
This is why we joined the EUC – to have a stronger and more coordinated voice alongside our brothers and sisters to protect and expand film and television work here in California. By uniting and fighting we increase our power. There is strength in numbers.

For our members, this issue is simple: jobs. We need production staying here so skilled union workers can keep earning a living, supporting their families, and building a future in this industry. This is why meeting with every gubernatorial candidate has been a priority for the EUC and Local 40.
The expanded California Film and Television Tax Credit program is working, but it is not enough. We need to expand funding for jobs programs, oppose potential federal funding cuts, and stabilize and grow film and television jobs throughout our state.
We will continue to work with the EUC to relentlessly advocate for our members and ensure the next Governor prioritizes the needs of the men and women who work every day to keep the Hollywood in Hollywood.

The future of our industry depends on whether the next occupant of our state’s highest office is a partner who understands the importance of film and television production for our members and our state’s economy.
